Digital Strategy

Our digital strategy places people, equity, and excellence at its core. It is a golden thread woven through our Trust priorities, directly supporting School Improvement, our People Strategy, Business Sustainability, EEDI and our Trust vision.
Digital is an essential life skill, equal to numeracy and literacy. We strive for every Haberdashers' learner to leave us prepared for the future — digitally fluent, critically literate, and confident in navigating AI and other transformative technologies. Our aim is for every staff member to have the confidence, training, and tools to use digital purposefully — to improve teaching, reduce workload, and strengthen inclusion.
Our strategy builds on the Haberdashers’ Principles — ready, confident, knowledgeable, independent — ensuring that every learner becomes not only an excellent student, but also a responsible and ethical digital citizen.
We call this commitment the Haberdashers’ Experience: an inclusive, intelligent, and people-centred digital culture that:
- Enhances engagement and enriches learning
- Strengthens accessibility & equity for staff, students and families
- Reduces workload and builds staff confidence
- Improves operational efficiency and sustainability
- Deepens partnerships with families, industry and the wider community
Our ambition is delivered through five strategic pillars:
- Digital Leadership
- People-centred experience
- Intelligent Insights
- Digital Citizenship
- Collaborative Innovation
These pillars position Haberdashers as forward-thinking in digital transformation — strengthening our schools while contributing to the wider future of education.
Our Digital Strategy in action
Digital Citizenship a key element of our Haberdashers' Advantage programme
Embedded in every day learning is a commitment to ensure our learners are able to:
- Think and act ethically - able to spot misinformation, challenge AI bias, protect their data, use tech fairly, own their actions and stay accountable.
- Stay safe and resilient - able to protect themselves and their digital rights, look after their wellbeing, set boundaries and stay in control.
- Lead and adapt for the future - able to connect, create, make a positive difference, keep learning, stay flexible and work confidently with AI.
1-1 Device Trial
In 2024-25, we trialled a 1-1 device programme for Year 5 pupils at Haberdashers' Hatcham Primary and Year 10 pupils at Haberdashers' Crayford Academy. Providing each pupil with their own laptop to use both in school and at home for further study, this initiative aimed to evaluate the transformative impact of personal devices on teaching and learning, empowering students with tailored access to technology.
Our primary focus was to assess how these devices enhance the educational experience, potentially boosting academic outcomes and fostering greater engagement. Additionally, we were able to understand their influence on teaching practices, exploring whether they streamline lesson delivery and simplify grading processes for educators.

Resources for Parents
Together with key partners, we have developed resources for parents including:
- A series of parent talks led by our students and focused on 'The Impact of Social Media on Young Minds: What Parents Need to Know' with accompanying guidance, templates and more.
- An Online Safety Hub created in partnership with SmoothWall and our Safeguarding team, providing practical guidance for parents on screen time, social media, gaming, parental controls and more.
Digital Training Programme for all staff
Currently, all staff across the Trust are embarking on personalised digital training programmes that best support them in their roles. From the Microsoft Learn programmes, website, SharePoint and Canva training to Inclusive Classrooms and 21st Century Learning Design, support staff, teachers and leaders alike have been striving to complete a strong training foundation to build on over time.
