Haberdashers’ Crayford Primary Celebrate a ‘Good’ Ofsted Result

The Haberdashers’ Crayford Primary community is celebrating this term after receiving their recent ‘Good’ Ofsted inspection outcome.

Reflecting the school’s commitment to excellence in education, the inspection report highlights numerous strengths and areas of commendation for Crayford Primary's dedication to providing a nurturing and enriching learning environment for its pupils.

Kate Ellis, Principal of Haberdashers' Crayford Primary, remarked:

We are thrilled with the results of our recent Ofsted inspection. It's a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, students, and wider school community, who I know are just as proud of this outcome as I am. We are committed to providing the best possible education for all our pupils, and it's wonderful to see our efforts recognised in this way.

This news follows an excellent set of Key Stage Two results last year with Year 6 pupils increasing their expected standard in Maths by 23% - 10% higher than the national average. The inspection team carried out a deep dive into Maths and noted the school’s successes in the subject, recognising how well taught it is across the year groups.

Furthermore, the inspection report commended Crayford Primary for its welcoming and nurturing atmosphere, where staff quickly respond to students' needs, ensuring their happiness and safety. The school's high expectations for learning and achievement are reflected in pupils' strong progress across various subjects, including those with SEND.

The curriculum at Crayford Primary was praised for its ambition and richness, structured around three key strands that facilitate students' development of subject knowledge and skills. Additionally, the school effectively supports pupils with SEND, providing personalised support and adaptations to ensure their success alongside peers.

Reading is prioritised from Reception, with new reading programmes having been introduced to improve outcomes. The school actively promotes a love of reading, using a well-stocked library and diverse book selections to enhance pupils' comprehension and understanding of the world.

Part of Haberdashers’ Academies Trust South, Haberdashers’ Crayford Primary joins its partner schools Haberdashers’ Crayford Academy and Haberdashers’ Slade Green Primary in securing a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating in the last 18 months. Working together as a cluster of schools to provide the best possible education to children and young people aged 3 to 18 in Bexley, pupils at all three schools benefit from the unique Haberdashers’ Advantage character curriculum, a personal development programme highly commended by inspectors at all three schools.

Jan Shadick, CEO of Haberdashers' Academies Trust South, also shared her positive sentiments, stating:

We are proud of Crayford Primary and the progress they have made. The ‘Good’ rating reflects the collective efforts of everyone involved in the school, from the leadership team to the children and their families. This achievement reinforces our Trust's commitment to providing a high-quality and well-rounded education across all our schools.

Crayford Primary is proud of this recognition and remains dedicated to providing the best possible education for its pupils. With a focus on continuous improvement and collaboration, the school looks forward to building on its successes and further enriching the experience for all its children, families and wider community.
