  • About the role

    The Head of Year at Hatcham College will play a pivotal role in supporting and guiding students through their education. They work with SLT and a team of non-teaching colleagues to take overall responsibility for the pastoral care, academic progress, and personal development of pupils, ensuring they achieve their full potential. They work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to monitor attainment, attendance, and behaviour, providing targeted interventions where needed.  They lead assemblies, mentoring programmes, and enrichment activities that support student engagement, well-being, and preparation for the next stage of their education or career.​

    The role requires excellent organisational skills, strong interpersonal communication, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will foster a positive and inclusive culture, promote high standards and ensuring that each student receives personalised support to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.​

    Reporting

    ​This role will report to the Assistant Principal, Head of Key Stage.
