Youth Conference 2024 Mental Resilience
This term began with our annual Youth Conference at Goldsmiths University on Friday 19 April. The event welcomed 270 pupils from Years 5 to 13 from all Trust schools, focusing on the theme of 'Mental Resilience.'
The conference, designed with the Youth Advisory Board, aimed to support pupils' mental well-being and resilience. Clinical psychologists from Kove and Kings College London supported the event, where pupils joined workshops and discussions to learn how to handle life's challenges.
Experts from Citizens UK (we were honoured to have former Hatcham College Head Girl, Emilia facilitating this session), Kove Minds, RE-STAR Initiative, and the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust led the workshops. They taught pupils how to:
- Build resilience skills
- Promote positive mental health practices
- Create supportive school networks
As part of the Haberdashers' Advantage programme, 30 pupils from each school attended the conference in person. The event's resources and key learnings are being shared with all pupils. We will review the event with the Youth Advisory Board on 23 May.
