About the role
The role requires teaching Spanish across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 at Haberdashers Hatcham College. The post holder plans and delivers structured lessons aligned with curriculum expectations and exam board requirements. Pupils receive support across a range of abilities and backgrounds, with clear expectations set for behaviour, effort, and academic progress. The role contributes to a strong departmental culture focused on consistency, outcomes, and pupil confidence in language skills. The ability to teach French or German is an advantage.
The role involves regular assessment of learning and the use of attainment data to inform planning. Clear and timely feedback supports progress and exam readiness. Close collaboration with colleagues strengthens curriculum delivery and shared practice. The post holder supports enrichment opportunities linked to languages, culture, and international awareness, while upholding the values, policies, and professional standards of Haberdashers Hatcham College.
Key responsibilities include
• Teaching Spanish across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
• Teaching French or German where appropriate
• Planning lessons aligned with schemes of work and specifications
• Assessing pupil progress and providing clear feedback
• Preparing pupils for internal and external examinations
• Tracking attainment and delivering interventions where progress drops
• Contributing to curriculum planning and departmental development
• Maintaining high standards of classroom behaviour and engagement
• Supporting whole school priorities and enrichment activitiesReporting
