Sport at Haberdashers
Sport is a big part of the Haberdashers' experience. Every pupil benefits from sport throughout their time at Haberdashers' schools through cross curricular learning and extensive extracurricular activities.
Pupils can engage in a variety of sports and different sporting opportunities during their time at a Haberdashers' school. There are also a number of competitions that enable our pupils to compete with peers from the wider Haberdashers' family of schools. Some of these include:
Habs Fraser Rugby 7
Each year, schools from across the Haberdashers’ school network compete in the Fraser Bird Rugby 7s competition.
Started by Lieutenant Colonel Fraser Bird (a former school governor at our sister schools in Elstree) who was passionate about bringing all of the Haberdashers' schools together to enjoy each other’s company through a regular sporting competition. The rugby tournament started in 1974 and has been an annual fixture. Each of our secondary academies enjoy taking part in the competitions, including Borough Academy, our newest academy in the Trust
Habs Athletics Competition
The Habs Athletics Competition sees all of the Haberdashers' family of schools join together to take part in a brilliant day of athletic sports. Athletics really is one of the most inclusive sports, where every child can take part and be recognised for both the success and their own personal achievement
The skills of running, jumping and throwing underpin almost every other sport and athletics can be used to enhance the wider PE and Sports offer.
Habs Netball Competition
Netball is a popular sport across all of our schools, and teams engage in a number of competitions locally and nationally. The Habs Netball Competition is a popular fixture in the school calendar, where Habs Schools come together to compete against each other to be crowned the winners. Netball really is an exciting, fast and skillful game of fair contest.
